Details:

  • The programme will work with AstroLabs, which is a builder of technology ecosystems, to help entrepreneurs and new businesses in the UAE and the MENA region.
  • The Majid Al Futtaim Launchpad will focus on helping startups in core growth areas, such as homegrown brands, health and beauty, and prop-tech.
  • Majid Al Futtaim has been building shopping malls, communities, retail, and leisure spaces in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia since 1992. AstroLabs, on the other hand, is a technology ecosystem builder in the Middle East and North Africa that helps companies grow through services like market entry and expansion.

Press Release:

Majid Al Futtaim, the leader in shopping malls, communities, retail, and leisure in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, has announced Majid Al Futtaim Launchpad, a programme to attract startups and small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in strategic sectors to speed up growth plans and help the economy grow. The Launchpad emphasises Majid Al Futtaim’s role as a partner in helping entrepreneurs and new businesses in the UAE and the MENA region. It also confirms the Company’s role in the private sector in helping local economies grow.

Roland Daher, CEO of AstroLabs, said, “Established companies like Majid Al Futtaim can use market access and recognise the need to include startups in their value chain to stay ahead of disruption.” On the other end of the spectrum, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and startups are very good at digitalization, but they find it hard to break into and grow in their industry. There are big differences in culture and technology between these two worlds, and it is still hard for people to move easily between them. Since 2013, we have been at the centre of MENA’s technology ecosystem, connecting these players to increase the chances that these partnerships will work, maximise the results, and open the door to real growth opportunities on both sides.

Majid Al Futtaim also has a branch in the Indian city of Gurgaon.
