JustMop: Dubai Based Clean-Tech Startup A New Definition Of Keeping The Home Clean

On-demand companies are gaining popularity in a variety of industries, including transportation, grocery, health and beauty services, and freelancing providers. According to the American Community Survey of the United States Census Bureau, the on-demand economy engages more than 22.4 million customers yearly and generates US$57.6 billion in spending in the United States alone. JustMop, an online marketplace for home cleaning services that operate in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar, have joined the MENA ring of this specific industry. Kerem Kuyucu and Ali Cagatay Ozcan, both former Rocket Internet Turkey department directors who established operations in several locations, founded the company in February 2015.

Justmop is a marketplace for on-demand home services. The firm was formed in 2015 and is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Justmop announced the conclusion of its Series A funding round in 2017, headed by VentureFriends, a Greek venture capital firm. Justmop announced its entry into Kuwait in September 2018. Faith Capital Holding, a Kuwait-based venture capital firm, announced an undisclosed investment in the business the following year. In November of 2019, the startup expanded its presence to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Individuals searching for house cleaning services are connected with pre-screened experts through the Dubai-based start-up. The concept occurred to Ali Cagatay Ozcan, co-founder and CEO, as he was bringing his bride to Dubai following their wedding in 2015. She was also a picky person.

“I was expected to locate a maid to my wife’s standards before she came to Dubai, and I tried six of them. I was pleased with the sixth and contacted the cleaning service. However, they were unable to locate my maid’s information. As a result, it became obvious that individuals in the city were unable to locate a good cleaning service that met their needs.” Ali Cagatay Ozcan stated.

After that frustrating experience, Ozcan spoke with his partner, Kerem Kuyucu, who was a co-founder of Rocket Internet Turkey and had previously worked for Foodonclick.com. As a result, in 2015, they founded the Justmop marketplace as a self-funded start-up with offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

“We’ve partnered with over 150 cleaning service businesses to provide consumers with professionally trained maids. To keep track of the company, maid, and customer ratings and reviews, we use artificial intelligence software. Depending on availability or choice, we assign the same cleaner or a different cleaner to the client based on the customer’s rating Ozcan & Kuyucu stated.

Apart from cleaning products, Justmop costs Dh35 per hour for bookings of more than four hours, Dh40 for bookings of three hours, and Dh50 for bookings of two hours.

While none of the cleaning businesses is open on Fridays, Justmop is open on weekends. It has now completed over 150,000 cleanings, with an average cleaning time of more than 3.5 hours.

The seed round was headed by Nevzat Aydin, the founding CEO of Yemeksepeti in Turkey, and two additional Turkish venture investors in April of 2016.

VentureFriends, a Greece-based VC that has invested in several e-commerce, SaaS, Ad Tech, and On-Demand Services businesses in Europe and MENA, led the newest investment round. 500 Startups and OAK Capital, a venture capital firm founded by Turkish entrepreneur Nevzat Aydin, who sold his food delivery service Yemeksepeti to Delivery Hero for $589 million in 2015.

“We’ve been monitoring Justmop’s growth over the previous five years and have been pleased by how they healthily grew the business after effectively incorporating the learnings into the business model,” said Atil Erken, General Partner at Collective Spark. We think that co-founders Kerem and Cagatay are an investor’s ideal yin-yang, covering both the supply and demand sides of a venture’s success. We’ll be delighted to provide our industry knowledge, particularly in terms of growth drivers, unit economics, and international expansion” he added.

To help with their growth, the Justmop team has just opened a training centre supervised by a 5-star hospitality specialist, where all cleaners go through a rigorous week-long training programme to guarantee that the Justmop standards are fulfilled every time. Justmop’s transparent and professional house cleaning booking procedure is now available in Jeddah at the touch of a button, beginning at 32 SAR per hour.

The company intends to not only improve its software and create more advanced technologies but also to scale vertically and regionally to become the cleaning leader industry’s in the region.
